Omri's 9 Column
On Wednesday morning (1/27/10) I received a lot of phone calls from friends and family and my agent who told me we did it, I was selected to the All-Star Rookie Challenge! No doubt it's a very sweet cherry on the hard work I have put in so far.
The announcement of the selection is very excited and it reminded me the feeling I had when I was drafted. To reach the summit of the world basketball stage and get the recognition...it will be wonderful and amazing to be part of the game and will surely be a memorable weekend.
To tell the truth I did not know what to expect before the start of the season, but as time passed, things went well and also the direction I believe I saw it was possible. Of course I expected it recently, but I was still very pleased to hear that I will be part of the game.
When I look at things at this point in the season, I think Sacramento is a very good place for me. I have a place to grow and develop here. Beyond that, we have a young team that wants to build around me...both sides want it.
I have a two-year contract with an option for the King's to pick up a few more years. I think it's a great place to begin my career, there are less pressure and expectations now, and this is a team that can help young player develop.
With God's vision I can continue my current progress next year and reach All-Star status as Sophomore and play against the rookies. With much hard work I believe it is quite possible and I very much want this to happen.
I try to take one thing at a time, I have to stay humble despite these awards and attention, continue my hard work, that's exactly what brought me to places I could only dream about a few years ago. Lets hope that's exactly what will happen for next year.
This year has been good for me personally and for the team. These are just more step on the long road that I have to pass. A significant player has returned to the rotation, things have changed, I get different minutes, different shots, no doubt things have changed. This is my first year here, no one told me it was going to be easy, but I really learn a lot from this. You have to understand that things do not depend on just me, but also the environment, the coaches. We can play just as good, but I believe l get back in the rotation. It will be good for me personally and for the team.
